- Hajj tamattu‘ Rite
- التمتع Tamattu' Malay: Haji tamattu'
- Entering ihram for umrah first, completing it and leaving ihram, then entering ihram for hajj from Makkah. A dam (hady) is due because umrah and hajj are done in the hajj months of the same year without returning to the miqat for the hajj intention. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj calls it the easy pattern; most Malaysian pilgrims perform tamattu‘ (Federal Territory Mufti).

P
- Pillar (rukn) Ruling
- أركان Arkan Malay: Rukun
- An essential act of hajj or umrah. Leaving out a pillar makes the rite invalid — unlike an obligation (wajib), which can be made up for with a dam.
The number of pillars depends on how they are counted: JAWHAR gives five for umrah and MKN six for hajj (order included); the Federal Territory Mufti gives four and five (order not counted separately); the Saudi Ministry of Hajj lists three for umrah (ihram, tawaf, sa‘i) and four for hajj (ihram, standing at Arafah, tawaf al-ifadah, sa‘i).
