Women, menstruation and mahram
Is Hajj obligatory for a woman who would have to travel alone?
Answer in brief
In principle, a woman who is able to perform Hajj is obliged to do so, but the obligation lapses if an obstacle leaves her unable. For a woman travelling alone, Hajj is not obligatory, and she is required to go with her husband, a mahram, or at least two trustworthy women. However, it is permissible for her to go with one trustworthy woman or by herself if she is confident that her safety is assured.
