Tawaf
Is my tawaf or umrah valid if I carry a bag containing my shoes while performing it?
Answer in brief
Tawaf and prayer are valid when a person carries a bag holding shoes or sandals that are free from impurity. If it is uncertain whether the footwear is impure, one checks for the smell, taste or colour of impurity. If none is present, the footwear is considered clean, because rubbing it on the ground purifies it, following the view of Imam al-San'ani. If dirt or impurity is present, it must be removed first.
