Answer in brief

Hajj and umrah on behalf of others

May heirs use the deceased's estate to fund a voluntary proxy Hajj for a person who already performed Hajj during their lifetime?

Answer in brief

If the deceased had already performed Hajj in life, the estate may not be used to fund a voluntary proxy Hajj on their behalf. The Hajj obligation has been fulfilled, so the cost of a voluntary Hajj is not a debt to be settled from the estate. The exception is when one or more heirs offer to bear the cost from their own shares. If the deceased left a bequest for such a Hajj, it must be carried out, provided it does not exceed one third of the remaining estate after funeral costs and debts.
